Know Before You Grow
Industrial hemp is cannabis sativa that has a THC level of 0.3% or less. Just like how Great Danes and Chihuahuas are both members of the canis familiaris species even though their physical traits vary wildly, the same is true for cannabis. Even though industrial hemp has been bred to have low THC and in some cases high CBD, it is fundamentally the same plant that is grown for medicinal and recreational use. Take care to source seeds from a reliable vendor, as any field found growing plants above 0.3% THC is technically illegal and will be destroyed. In many states, fields that test above 1% THC are treated more harshly in the eyes of the law.
Additionally, while industrial hemp has been decriminalized, it is still regulated by individual state governments and the USDA. It is important to consult with all relevant authorities in your area before planting industrial hemp.
