FloroFresh 424 2′ Germicidal UV Light Fixture

The FloroFresh 424 can be used to convert existing indoor garden carbon filters and ventilation into germicidal air purification systems. The fixture is designed to fit inside of the inner carbon filter chamber or inside of rigid ducting. As air passes through the system, it is exposed to the germicidal UVC light to further purify the air and protect from possible contaminants. Each unit includes the FloroFresh fixture, integrated 10' 120v power cord, (4) AgroMax 2' T5 HO Germicidal UVC Bulbs, and two sets (4 ea.) of duct tension brackets.

  • Electrical: 96 watts, .8 amps @ 120v
  • Fixture Dimensions (max) : 23.875" x 4" x 4"
  • Use Only With: AgroMax 2' T5 HO Germicidal UVC Bulbs
  • Adjustable design fits inside 6"/8" rigid ducting and high-airflow 6"/8" Carbon Filters with an interior cannister length of 24"+
  • Sanitizes air with germicidal UVC light
  • Helps prevent mold and pathogen issues

AgroMax FloroFresh 424 Germicidal UV Light Fixture

Convert your existing ventilation to a germicidal air purification system with the AgroMax FloroFresh 424. This fixture cleverly fits AgroMax Germicidal UVC bulbs on the inside of your carbon filter or rigid ducting, effectively creating a pathogen-neutralizing chamber inside the filter itself. While carbon filters are excellent at removing odor from smelly spaces, some microscopic particles of fungal spores and microbes can still make their way through. The FloroFresh is a second line of defense, exposing those spores and microbes to concentrated UVC light. UVC light then kills the vectors as they pass over the FloroFresh system. All UVC light is contained to the inside of your ventilation system, so there’s no need to worry about the health of adjacent plants. This unit includes two sets of duct tension legs to fit inside both 6” and 8” carbon filters.

What is UVC Light?

UVC, or Ultraviolet C, is a non-visible wavelength of short-wave light radiation, falling between 100-280nm on the light spectrum. It is used primarily for germicidal applications, where UVC light exposure effectively neutralizes viruses, mold spores, and other pathogens. While UVC emitted from the Sun is almost entirely blocked by Earth’s atmosphere, specialized lighting technology is able to reproduce the 100-280nm spectrum.

Biological Effect of UV Light
While UVB radiation is widely recognized for its harmful effects on human skin and links to skin cancer, each of the UV bands (UVA, UVB and UVC) create different risks for humans.

UVC radiation refers to wavelengths shorter than 280 nm. These wavelengths are entirely absorbed by our atmosphere and no natural UVC radiation reaches the surface of the earth. These wavelengths are available to us through artificial sources.

In instances of prolonged direct exposure to UVC light, temporary eye and skin damage has been exhibited, such as cornea injury (sometimes referred to as “welder’s eye”) although this generally heals after a couple of days. Therefore, safety recommendations with UVC LEDs include protecting skin (in particular open wounds) and, most importantly, the eyes from UVC radiation.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

UV radiation is easily absorbed by clothing, plastic or glass. Once absorbed, UV radiation is no longer active. When working with open UV radiation during maintenance, service or other situations, personal protective equipment covering all exposed areas is recommended. When working around UVC devices, one should:

Use UV goggles and/or full-face shields.

Prescription glasses and normal safety glasses do not protect eyes from UV exposure, so ANSI Z87 rated eyeglasses with wrap around lens to protect the side exposure is recommended. Consult with ANSI Z87 manufacturers for proper UV exposure protection equipment.

Cover any exposed skin using lab coats, nitrile gloves or other lab attire.
