Mh & HPS Grow Lights
HPS and MH grow lights offer exceptional light production for your indoor garden. HTG Supply carries a large selection of MH and HPS grow lights for sale in various wattages and configurations that are perfect for any indoor garden.
What Are HPS and MH Grow Lights?
Metal halide (MH) and high-pressure sodium (HPS)Â grow lights are types of high-intensity discharge (HID) light. MH lights produce a blue spectrum, which promotes vegetative growth when the leaves, roots and stems are still developing. HPS lights typically have red/orange output, which is ideal for flowering.
If you have vegetative crops like herbs and leafy greens, you may want to use MH lights. If you are growing plants that flower, enhanced-spectrum HPS grow lights are a better choice.
The best choice is to use both HPS and MH grow lights for a complete HID grow light system. You can swap out MH bulbs for HPS bulbs and vice versa, depending on your plants’ growth stage, to achieve optimal growth.
What Are the Benefits of MH and HPS Grow Light Systems for My Indoor Garden?
MH and HPS grow lights offer a wide range of benefits, including:
Increased plant growth: MH and HPS grow light systems are proven to increase plant growth because of their intense brightness and light spectrum that encourages photosynthesis.
Cost-effective: MH and HPSÂ lights typically have a lower upfront cost than other types of grow lights, such as LED.
Easy setup and operation: Using MH and HPS lights as part of your HID lighting setup is easy and straightforward. In most cases, you will screw the bulb into the socket on the reflector and then connect the reflector to the ballast. From there, you can customize your setup with timers, fans and other supplies to control the amount of light and heat your MH and HPS grow lights give off. MH and HPS lights produce a lot of heat, so temperature control in your grow room is essential for successful harvests.
